Artistic fire pit found on FaceBook

I saw this on FB & thought I'd share it here because so many have shown the ones they built & while many are interesting & most are functional, few have been truly artistic. I think this was made from a small buoy but it could also be something else. Anyway, I was impressed. Reply:They are mass produced by a company, or at least on a small scale they are. There is a "artsy" shop in my smallish town that sells these. They are definitely pretty sweet.

Reply:I saw one at an ace hardware store.  It was cut out like planet earth.  Same size, was pretty cool.  Think they wanted about $800 for it.  Asked  sales guy and he thought the we're from a shop in Tennessee or Carolinas.   Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Reply:I have made them, some very nice ones, and they just don't sell. They cost too much to produce, need to be hand cut, as most cnc plasmas don't do that, and so there is a lot of labor. The buoys are expensive, and the old round fatboy LP tnls aren't around much anymore. As a result, I have to sell them for around $800 or it is mot worth my time, and that doesn't compete well with the cheapie $129 firepit from Costco.

Reply:chucky,I sure hope you know what you're doing before you go taking a plasma cutter to an old propane bottle.   Because doing things like that have the potential to go horribly wrong real quick.
