Repairing a rubber TIG power cable?

I have searched the web high and low and can't find an answer other than "no, these cables cannot be repaired."I have an older Airco tig torch + power cable, but the fitting on the machine end is damaged.  As some of you probably know, the Airco tig handle threads onto the brass fitting on the cable, so if I were to buy a new flex cable then the handle wouldn't have any way to secure and the entire torch would be pretty much useless.  I know, I know, why not just buy another torch you say!  Well, I have a few WeldCraft torches but I got this Airco torch because I like the vintage "style" I guess you could say.Long story short, I see everyone saying that it cannot be repaired, but I see things like this available all over the internet.  Can I just cut off the old fitting and install and crimp this new one?If scrapping the torch is my only choice then I will do it, but hopefully someone has other ideas!!Thanks guys. EDIT: Also just had an after thought!  I got an Airco H10B with cable from an auction yesterday for next to nothing, but I can't figure out how to get the handle off of the torch to disassemble it!!  The torch has a Gas On/Off switch that slides up and down, I tried unthreading the head but it seems like it just wants to break off that way.  Any tips for me or a manual or something?Last edited by fsisneros; 04-20-2014 at 08:51 AM.
Reply:Yes, they install like they look they install.  If you have a good used inner tube-with-nut you can secure it to the hose with any suitable ferrule or Oetiker clamp. You don't need the special pliers for Oetiker clamps either as you can use an old dull pair of dykes or end nippers.
Reply:Luckily I have a set of Oetiker clamps and pliers so that was what I was going to use instead of a ferrule, I just didn't want the denizens of welding web to bash me for my choices.  Thanks for the help, I am glad someone has tried this.
