Does anyone know of a source for Marvel parts? I have a marvel that someone got their fingers into and it's lean on the top end. I drilled the main jet out a bit and it's better but still not right.I think it has the wrong jetting for the application (SA-200) but I can't find any information on what jets are available. Well that is if any are available. Tractor Supply has a kit for a Marvel that is a Ford tractor application and it has an adjustable main jet in it, but there aren't enough parts in the kit to convert it.Joewww.CummingsHauling.com
Reply:Are far as I know, no particular jets are available, just the ones that come with the rebuild kit.
Reply:All the rebuild kits I find don't have any jets in them. They are all pretty much just needle and seat, gasket, idle mixture screw, and throttle shaft.Do you have a source for complete rebuild kits?Joewww.CummingsHauling.com
Reply:All you need is the size, and drill it out.  The bigger the hole, the more gas it will burn !DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.

Reply:Find a performance shop for snowmobiles or motorcycles.  They will have them or know where to get them. The jet size is the drill # size.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:For a Lincoln SA200 you have a TSX514 or TSX979. 514 - vacuum idler, 979 - electric idler. We probably have jets for either. weldersales
Reply:Take this with a grain of salt.....could this be a timing issue? Possibly a little advanced? Maybe causing it to act a little lean? Just a shot in the dark. If the jet is the correct size and you are getting enough fuel, what could cause it to get lean?Yeah, yeah, I know you are a weldor too. But, are you a good one?

Reply:SO, you felt it was running lean, because it wouldn't load up. ahhh, since the governor handles the load, what on earth made you want to mess with the carb??? What you've gone and done makes absolutely "Zero" sence to me.I'd kinda think that:The rack was rolled too muchThe ignition timmng may be outThe governor is out of adjustment.
Reply:I think after 30 years as a mechanic I know what lean sounds like. Hell I knew what lean sounded like when I was 14. Don't talk to me like I am an idiot. I don't know who the F you think you are.Joewww.CummingsHauling.com
Reply:Just a tip on drilling out jets, maybe you know this.  Increasing the size by drilling it, say, .002" larger can be a lot since this amount is actually a "squared" value when it comes to anything dealing with "flow".  Think Pi (X 3.14), for circumference.  The smaller the jets, the more precise they have to be.  Not a lot of room for "close enough".   Main jets are a little less finicky.  Of course, if you can buy them it's all the better to get a cleaner bore.  I would sometimes "hand jet" to find what works and then go buy the correct sizes, if available.Examples:  .020" drill x 3.14 = .0628  converted to metric = #76 jet/drill.022" drill x 3.14 = .069  converted to metric = #74 jet/drillI bought a set of jewelers drills about 30 years ago that are drill sizes #61-80 or .013 to .040" along with a mini, hand twist drill holder tool that I use specifically for jetting when working on motorcycles. Not pimping but here but I did a quick search on the net that sells them for about $30http://www.toolsgs.com/cart/detail.a...roduct_id=H177A lean condition could be mechanical.  Usually a vacuum leak, manifold or hose.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene

I was going to lose thousands if it wouldn't have been moved today.I know this thing is lean, not only does it sound lean but when it is burning a big rod like 1/4" and the throttle is wide open it sounds like crap. If you give it a slight amount of choke or put a finger across the intake it smooths right out. When I got this machine, the not only were there some big obvious things wrong with the carb, but the mag was in pieces in a box but yet all the pieces were good. It had all the signs of having been worked on by someone unfamiliar with mags, carbs, or anything for that matter.

The mags tend to leak oil past the seal. the oil mist makes them run rather erratic, if thats not the case then gap the points to 18 thou. This and the proper copper (not the stranded hei) spark plug wires should have solved your problems. If the engine can't fire properly, it isn't going to suck the fuel and you're going to "think" that its running lean. Then your just making more problems for yourself by fixing other problems that actually don't exsist. And you know that the mag timming is set off #4 cylinder at TDC, NOT #1
