Invertec Questions

Im sorry for all these stupid questions.Im laid up for a few days with a bad burn{not from welding}so i guess ive got to much time on my hands.I was looking at the Invertec 155 and 160 and had a few questions.1.Do these welders run stick better than the AC/DC Lincoln buzzbox?2.What are their TIG capabilities?Shortcomings,strengths?3.Im buying an engine drive in the near future.Either a Ranger 250 or 305.Would one of these Invertecs be good to have for tig with those.4.Anything anyone can tell me about these machines would be greatThe reason im looking at them is i need something around the house for a while and these things look like the ticket,small and light.Ive never TIG welded before,gonna give it a try,any reason these arent good machines to start out with?I wont be running any big rod at home probably mostly 3/32 7018 and ocassionally 1/8" 7018.I guess im gonna have to give some 6013 a try.Havent used any 7014 since high school.I dont think ive burned anything but 6010,7018 and stainless for 20 yrs.
Reply:I could write a book.  The V-155 does not have a plug for a remote or gas valve.They make a V160-S that has touch start tig, and stick welding up to 160 amps 100% duty cycle at 130 amps.  35% duty cycle at 160.  I use 140 amps for 1/8" 7018.  V160-t has a gas through dinse, hi freq or touch start, and pulse with a 6 prong plug for the remote.  It auto senses 110 or 220v.  I ordered the 160-T today.  David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Is that all anybody knows about Invertecs?Like ive said before i dont know much about TIG but i want to learn it.Im sure they will do a better job TIG welding than i am capable of right now.Im just kinda wondering about their stick performance.
Reply:To answer your question, they will tig on DC like any other welder.  Stick on the V-155 has smooth and crisp, The V160-T does not have that option, it claims to be automatic.They WILL run off a ranger 250.I also have an invertec  V350 pro.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I just spent the last 2 weeks comparing a Lincoln V205-T AC-DC and a Dynasty 200DX. The Lincoln is veryyyyyy impressive! Its more advanced than the miller..
