Hi all, I found a deal on one of these, guy is asking $200. It appears that everything is there, it was previously hardwired. It says L-Tec welding systems Plasmarc PCM-150.I want to find a good deal on a plasma cutter but I don't know much about them. What do you think? Worth the money or should I pass? Thanks,Matt
Reply:Thats a lot of plasma for $200… Do you have the power to run it though? I know we use identical machines at work plugged into 460V. We run them with nitrogen and get nice clean cuts and back gouges on stainless. Check and see if it can be ran on single phase or 230… If you can and you can power it, go for it… Nothing wrong with some over kill- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com

Reply:It also has a machine torch setting on top. might be water cooled. If you had the 3 phase power they are a work horse machine.Still supported a little by ESAB.
Reply:Esab still has them. They even have dual unit that uses 2 of them together. I used one a little bit cutting chromium carbide overlaid pipe. Like a hot knife through butter. Good for up to 2" I think. The one thing I've heard though is that the older machines are better than the new machines. Esab changed something and they aren't as good as they used to be. The one I used used compressed air and nitrogen.
Reply:we have a new esab at work and about 5 plasmarc units… The esab has been down a few times in the few months we have had it.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com |
