Hi all,I have a spool gun controller that was set up for an old Airco AE20-H. It was similar or the same as an old Miller Spoolmatic spool gun. It was set up for running off of a gas drive welder but the wire was always hot so I got a different controller with a built in contactor. I have since sold the spool gun and controller but have the old controller left. This contactor will provide the 24 volts the spool gun motor needs to run off of, but not the contactor so the wire will remain hot even without pressing the trigger. It will work with the old style Airco AE20-H spool gun which is still being produced today by Profax (attached is a picture of their gun). This gun was made under a variety of names and you may have one laying around that can be put back in service with this controller. THE SPOOL GUN PICTURE IS JUST FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES! I HAVE NO SPOOL GUN FOR SALE!!!You can see in one of the pictures that it is wired with numbers indicating the same number wire from the spool gun. It is a no brainer to hook up.Take it home today!Call Tony602-920-3784 or [email protected] Attached Images

Reply:Hi kswelderman,I can't say if it would work or not. The control box is basically a 24 volt power source for the spoolgun motor. Since it doesn 't have a contactor built into it, there is no voltage sensing wire to initiate the contactor relay (meaning its always hot). Once you squeeze the trigger, the motor spins feeding wire and it melts into the puddle once you touch the working surface. you lift the trigger and the motor stops while you break the arc as in stick welding. The homework you would have to do is to find out the pin out of the 30A to see which wires need to go to which connection in the control box. For example you might try calling Miller's tech support and ask them which wire number from the 30a corresponds to the one in the controller. So for example if you asked them to tell you what each wire of the spoolmamtic 1 does that gets screwed down into the terinals of the controller of the spoolgun (I think they used the WC-2 or WC-3 controller) and then asked for the corresponding wire for the 30A, you could deduct which wire is supposed to go where. You could also ask on one of these forums. I have seen people get creative and make stuff work that wasn't designed to do so. Its all about getting your hands on the right info and plenty of time to test it out.Hope this helps,Tony
Reply:Help!!To the person who wrote me about this item to my email, I cleaned my in-box of junk mail and accidentally erased your message and therefore your contact information. You had asked me about some information for shipping and weight. Please write again if you get this message.I went out and measured the contactor. It is 16" long by 9" wide by 6 1/2" high. It weighs approximately 10 pounds. It will NOT fit into a flat rate box. If you have Paypal, it is a preferred method for sending payment.Thanks,Tony602-920-3784
