Yea!at home right now there is a new little toy of mine! but don't tell my wife i'm telling you, as its for my birthday on friday! Its a Cigweld Weldskill 170. it is a 240v 170 amp inverter welder, with lift tig.I suspect you don't see the cigweld welders in the US, but they are made by Thermadyne.I guess its fairly small and basic by many of your welders, but it should be a massive leap up from my little AC buzz box, and eventually I hope to give TIG a try.I'm itching to get it out of the box and give it a go. I'm thinking of things to make already. I'm working on a very rough welded model car at the moment, as I got bored welding practice pieces together one after the other, and wanted to make something. I'm also thinking of building a workbench in the shed at the new house, or a better portable one that I can wheel outside to weld onOooh I can't wait! Attached Images

Reply:The factory I've been doing maintenance at closed it's doors for good a couple of weeks ago. They sold off all the tools they could to staff and among other things I picked up a Cigweld Transarc 141 VRD in fair condition for $50

Reply:Its very possible brucer, as you said, themal arc seem to be a different branch of themadyne. sounds like an exceptional deal briselec. you're lucky, most places these days seem to send everything to the auctionsI'm still itching to bust it out damn it!I would have loved to go even bigger, the HF would have been pretty cool, with all its tig possibilitys, but unfortunatly its well beyond my buget, as a part time hobby weldor.Tig will have to wait a little, but I'm sure to have a lot of fun with it in arc mode until then anyway!Cheers,Matt |
