Tailgate build

A buddy of mine came to and wanted me to make him a tailgate for his old ford. Here is how he wants it. any ideas on how I should do this? Lincoln 140 Pak MIG Everlast powerarc 140 STLincoln Tombstone
Reply:You can buy louvered tailgates like this.But, making one seems best as they are made in china a will fold under any use.I have helped a friend make one just like this.How do you plan on latching it?Would you consider buying an scrap tailgate and taking the mech. out? Thats what my buddy did.What thickness are you thinking?
