hossfeld on 1 1/4" sched 40

has anyone bent 1 1/4" sched 40 steel pipe on a manual hossfeld?for a few bends will i get away from having to get the hydraulic?So the question is can you successfully bend the above pipe in the manual version?even if it is tough going?G
Reply:I wasn't successful bending the stuff.   Though I think you can get the leverage with a longer handle.  Also,  do you have the pipe die or that combo die. If the combo die then you might be disappointed with the result after all that work.I built a leverage multiplier for my American Bender. Similar to the jd2 tube bender.

Reply:More leverage gives you more bending power. Longer handle helps. But it matters if you're a 100lbs soaking wet desk jockey, like my wife, or 240lbs and 56" around the chest. And even with all that, the tool could fail.Bit more complex than just can or can not, do or do not Grasshoppa. 200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.

Reply:NOTE:  Hossfeld benders come in two sizes.  3 inch between the bars and 4 inch.  I would doubt you can safely bend 1 1/4 with the smaller model.  The manuals used to be available online and might give you an authoritative  answer.
