I had an order of 7 sets....... so I decided to make a quick video of how I make them..........Averaging $10 / hour lately......Precision TIG 185 and MP 210Bobcat 225NTCutmaster 42O/A tanks.... 2 Argon tanks...... 2 C25 TanksFacebook...... Reply:Looks great
Reply:Why don't you laser cut out like 1000 of them...Make a jig like a little table saw where you just slide these thru and it cuts the halfway line, then all you'd have to do is drill them.As a quick estimate based on my breakdown, you could probably be making around $40-50/hr, worth it for insanely repetitive work? lol you decideLast edited by MikeGyver; 06-22-2014 at 04:06 AM.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com

Reply:Really, using a screwdriver for a punch?Have you ever heard of a transfer punch?Get yourself a set of transfer punches from Harbor Freight at least.Transfer punches come in sets and are sized by drill bit sizes, so they fit the drilled hole perfectly. And, each punch features a center punch point to mark the spot where you need to drill.A little finesse goes a long way. Reply:Make a small tumbler and tumble them with walnut shells instead of grinding them. You will do less work and the results will be better.brad
Reply:Nice vid, but if you were doing the laser thing, there's no reason the laser couldnt do the whole thing, pips, line and all. Probably not the point to doing something hand made.    Regards,RobGreat Basin WeldingInstagramBlue weldersRed weldersMy luscious Table DIY TIG Torch cooler

Reply:It's sort of like a wonderful magic trick.  Fex's work with these is beautiful, but when he shows it, just like a magician, someone is going to say they have a better way or at least criticize how it's done.  That's why a magician never reveals his secrets. point to ponder.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:I would think you could save a ton of time using a few simple jigs and some toggle clamps.  Also, have you thought about using something like a piece of 01 flat bar, drilling for your pattern for each domino and then hardening?  You could then use it as a drill guide and skip the whole marking/center punch step all together.  Clamp, set the stop and drill in one shot.  Nice job though, I can tell the difference between the first ones you made.
Reply:couldnt watch it man..turned it off after 34 seconds, ditten wanna see  your grinder  grab your shirt and seperate you from your right tit..

Reply:That grinder is really close to your shirt and no gloves? With the recent grinder vs member's face thread and still no guard?  When it grabs your shirt, first thing you will instinctively do is grab for it with the other hand.     Sent from my SCH-I545 using TapatalkTiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:You could make up a drill jig and use a set of drill bushings http://www.mcmaster.com/#drill-bushings/=sl82iz if you have enough room between the holes for the bushing.  I am thinking a block with a pocket milled in the bottom to fit the domino, use a brass tipped set screw on 2 sides so it holds and locates the domino correctly.  Then the holed pattern would be drilled in the top with the drill bushings installed.  You would only need one jig but would need a way to keep track of what holes you are drilling.  To keep it all accurate I would find a machine shop to make you the jig.The table saw setup is a good idea for the line and a tumbler to finish as also a very good idea.  You would just need to play around with media until you found a finish you liked.
Reply:I'm sure this is obvious to the more experienced guys, but what material is being used to make these dominoes?? I want to guess aluminum, but it also sort of looks like stainless as well.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkAspiring Top-Notch WeldorLooking for work/experience in Eastern Massachussetts

Reply:Fex, I didn't want to rain on your parade, but if your looking for ways to increase your productivity I'd suggest machinists center drills and a cross slide vice.  I like the tumbler idea too.Don't balk at 8/hr though, its better than a poke in the stick with a sharp eye In my area 8/hr cash would be close to 15 on the checkLincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....
