Okay I haven't asked a dumb question in a while. My math if correct tells me my 3k running 3.7 load will produce 22 amps? My 120v welder should run okay on this right?Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Reply:Ptobably not due to inrush surge. Probably need 1.5 to 2.0 times generator output to handle this. Others may know better.Dan D.Manipulator Of Metal

Reply:If you have a Lincoln 135 the max it should draw is about 20 amps, depending on the electrode and how you run it.As long as you are not trying to run .035 flux core for all the machine is worth then it should do fine on a 3kw generator.old Miller spectrum 625 Lincoln SP-135 T, CO2+0.025 wireMiller model 250 and WP-18V torchCraftsman 100amp AC/DC and WP-17V torchCentury 115-004 HF arc stabilizerHome made 4 transformer spot welderHome made alternator welder

Reply:Probably work alright, just have the generator up to full speed and welder NOT maxed out when you first try it. Then bump up the welder output a little at a time to see how high you can push it and still weld OK. Probably the worst that will happen is, you will trip the breaker if pushed too hard.
Reply:run .030 wire if your fluxcore, you should be fine.face all times with a positive mental attitude, then and only then will you have done your best.

Reply:I don't have a 135, I have a Lincoln 180 duel. I did have a few 110 Lincolnshire, I was thinking I might pick up another. My plan was to use the 180 with the 110 plug. I welded with the 180 in 110 mode last week with my 5kw generator and it did just fine. This generator does have 3700 surge watts so I was thinking it would work. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Reply:i have a miller 180, about ten years old, i run a 220 line on it, ,.030 outperforms the .035 bigtime, using .035, i reach the maximum duty cycle very quickly and trip the internal thermal protection switch, using .030, i'm smooth as silk and can push the machine for quite a while.....030 naturally draws less amperage than .035 and brings the main power supply requirements down somewhat, enough to get'r done anyhow!.face all times with a positive mental attitude, then and only then will you have done your best. |
