Guys i just ran across two Lincoln SA 200's and am interested in buying them.  A good client of mine actually has them but neither of us have an idea of a fair value for them.  Both machines were running and welding fine when parked, but have been sitting (Outside) for a few years now, and not been run.  So they will not crank.  One machine is complete, and the other is missing the doors.  Both have pretty decent sheet metal (not dented or rusted out)  I was thinking about buying them both if for nothing else but to have one for parts.  Anyone have an idea of what the machines would be worth in their current condition.  Thanks in advance.  ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Probably not much of a help but I've seen them from $500 for non-running to $3500+ for working units with leads.  More for refurbed or 'dressed' rigs.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I'd offer him 400.00 for the both. I mean you are taking a chance that neither may work.... And if one does you have made a good deal, which is probably what you both are talking about, him giving you a good deal and you getting a good deal.Miller Thunderbolt 225Millermatic 130 XPLincoln HD 100 Forney C-5bt Arc welderPlasma Cutter Gianteach Cut40ACent Machinery Bandsaw Cent Machinery 16Speed Drill PressChicago Electric 130amp tig/90 ArcHobart 190 Mig spoolgun ready
Reply:I'd do what STwelder suggested and take a chance they're a damn good, tough machine. As they say "An oldie but a goodie".....Mike
Reply:X3.  Making the offer doesn't mean he has to take it but what have you got to loose.  If he hasn't given you any idea as to what he'd like to get for them, it wouldn't be an insult to make the offer to get talks going if nothing else.Good luck!MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:First thing I would do is get the hand crank out and make sure they aren't frozen. If they run and operate correctly they usually go pretty high. Personally I wouldn't go very high on any machine I can't start and weld with. I'm sure you are well aware of how expensive repairs can get. We have a factory authorized service center for all major brands here where I get most all of my repair parts. I was in there a few weeks back and mentioned the SA200 and the tech was telling me Lincoln no longer makes parts for them and certain parts are getting very hard to find. He said they won't even take one in trade that doesn't run and weld. They are good machines but they aren't fuel sippers by any means. The difference between them and your GXT will be about like the difference between a 4 cyl S-10 and a 454 1 ton. I mention that because I don't know if you have ever used one or not and I know you are looking at fuel costs. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.

Reply:Thanks for the advice.  The truth of the matter is that I really do not NEED either one, but thought I would pick them up, and go thru one of them and put it back in first rate shape in my spare time.  Just something to play with mainly.  I had one years ago, and being young, dumb, and not really knowing what I had I sold it, the older I got the more I wish I had kept it.  I'm not gonna pull my new machine off the truck and go to the SA200 for daily use because of fuel consumption, and it is not a multi process machine.  I use my CV side too much to give it up.  It would be nice to have on certain jobs though as I have learned that you can never have too many welders in a welding business.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
