I'm sure this has been covered many times, but I can't find it. I'm starting flux core welding next week and will I be ok with my gold #10 or should I go darker? I know that at a point it becomes different person to person, but is flux core generally brighter than mig?Lincoln AC-225 90 amp flux core

Reply:Well I guess I'm odd, but everybody knew that anyways, because I shade 10 works well for me when doing flux core because I find it harder to see with all the smoke than it is with mig. The only time I go up to a shade 12 is for carbon arc gouging. That is very very bright. My "collection":Homemade Stick WelderVictor O/A TorchAC 225Ideal Arc 250HF 90 Amp Flux CoreHF Mig 170Solar 2020 Plasma CutterPower i-Mig 140EHarris O/A torchHF Dual Mig 131140STAlpha Tig 200x |
