I need a 4' box and pan brake. The HF and NorthernTool offers a too light weight for me. I want one that will work 14ga. but can't find one that don't cost thousands. Can any one suggest a manufacture?Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180

Reply:I am  surprised that you dont make your own  ....you can cut and weld...? a very simple thing to make
Reply:I'm afraid I'd have to disagree. To put a fair value on your time plus materials...you'd be in for a lot more than $1695. JMHO

Reply:Originally Posted by jwormanThis probably won't do, but Tractor Supply has a 36" brake that they say will bend 12ga steel for $249.  I saw one the last time I was in a store (120 miles away) and I was impressed.  I'm not sheet metal worker, so I may have not seen what should be seen.Anyway, it's smaller than what you want, but it's cheaper than some.http://www.tractorsupply.com/welding...-36-in-3805140

Reply:Definitely buy used or at auction. And I for one have never exceeded the rated capacity of a manual brake. No, never.
Reply:man if you do find one that is manual, I want to see a picture of the man who will be using it at 12 ga for any length of time.  I used one and it was tough.  The one I used was a copy of the grizzly.  you have to be a man to use it all day long.  I offered to buy it so I could put hydraulics on it, but the guy didn't want to sell it.
Reply:I wouldn't trust the northern ad.  It is probably 12g at about 12 inch wide.  Not a finger brake, either.  read the reviews.
Reply:ed mac, Thanks! exactly what I'm looking for. Reply:Wagin,I'm also looking at a B/P brake similar to what you want...12 ga...48".  I'd really like to here your feedback when you get yours.I've seen the ads for the Grizzly brake that EdMac suggested and it looks like it might work.  I have several tools/machines from Grizzly and have been satisfied...more or less.  The Chinese stuff Grizzly sells has always got the job done but there's usually quality issues that the pictures and specs don't show.  The handles fall off.  The screws get loose.  The wheels or mounting feet are crap.  They always need tweaking to get accurate results.  But the stuff is 1/3 to 1/4 of what quality US mfg'd items costs.  For production work...no way.  For my home garage/shop...sure.I am also the sad owner of a 12" HF bench top combo press brake / shear "thing".  Trust me...don't ever get one of those.  It won't brake, bend, or shear anything.  I honestly doubt that it would be an acceptable boat anchor.  Pure junk.Miller 211 w/ spool gunMiller Dynasty 200DXLongevity 60i IGBT plasmaO/A w/ crappy chinese torch/gaugesSouth Bend 10K latheGrizzly 4029 10x54 millGrizzly 7x12 hor bandsawangle grnders, bench grnder, bench belt sndr7.5 hp 80gal cmprsor
