On friday a guy came into the shop with some plumbing parts, a copper nipple he wanted attached to a brass faucet body. All I had was Aluminum bronze rod, so I set the welder to 160a AC with %90 EN and welded it quickly, before all the popping zinc? could escape. Will this repair last. Should I have used copper wire instead?SqWave 200Millermatic 190Airco 200 ACHypertherm PM45Boice-Crane Band SawVictor O/A
Reply:You did good in my book. I too would have feared the zinc popping.Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.
Reply:Copper to brass... why didn't the "guy" just solder it at home? Sounds like a standard DYI: propane torch acid-core flux plumbing job.Unless I'm missing something?Rick V 1 Airco Heliwelder 3A/DDR3 CTC 70/90 amp Stick/Tig Inverters in Parallel1 Lincoln MIG PAK 151 Oxy-Acet
