I'm very much a welding noob and wanted to run this by guys 'in the know' before making any decisions.I have an SP-125+ which I'd purchased used in good condition a couple of years ago. A fellow I know has an almost new Mig-Pak 15, which he won't be able to use because the garage in his new house doesn't have 220 and he's not inclined to re-do any wiring. He's proposing a trade, which seems like it'd be in my favour. So, first question - am I right and the Mig-Pak 15 is the heavier duty of the two machines?Second question - he's a buddy and I want to be fair and at least offer any $ difference. I know he'll probably turn me down, but I still want to make the offer. Given the situation, what would the $ difference between these two machines be?Any advice is appreciated! Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away. And you have their shoes.Roland
Reply:I know some wont agree with me on this but here in Canada the SP series and better welders then the Mig-Paks. The Mig-Paks are tapped units where the SP125plus is infinite. At the very best your buddy's welder is worth the same as yours or he owes you a little money. Just my 2 cents here. Check out your local LWS or even better call a repair shop and get their thoughts. I think you will find they agree with me.Good LuckMiller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
