I just purchased a Lincwelder 225 powered by Onan as well for $500.00. Hopefully I didn't pay too much but it was the cheapest I could find for a running one. I changed the oil (old stuff came out ash gray), plugs, old gas and new mufflers as well as power washing it to clean off all the old built up oil and it ran as soon as I pushed the start button. When using it though I have to set it at highest setting with the fine tuning set at 4-5 to get a good arc. It then tends to loose juice after a few minutes. Can anyone tell me why? I've attached pictures of it (with parts removed for cleaning) just in case it helps in identifying for some reason. Attached Images
Reply:I would say it might have duty cycle issues. See the 100 amp mark in the circle? That might be its 100 percent rating. Of course all the newer lincolns have 100 percent at their full rating.Check your brushes.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT
Reply:I get a very week arc at the 100 setting. As for the brushes....I'm not familiar enough on the mechanics. I'm I looking at e major expense if repairs are needed? |
