Just got and old Lincoln WP 225AC 210 DC Motor needs to be seperated from generator and I don't know how to get it apart. Are the shafts threaded or tapered. If threaded are they CW or CCW. The machine must be about 1980 and the Code# is 9108 serial A1081794. I have had the heads off the 2 cyl. Onan and the motor will atleast need a honing or maybe a bore job. Need to get the motor apart to see how much damage due to setting in the weather for years. May not be worth fixing and I understand total rebuild quite pricey. It anyone can give me any info or experience I would apreciate it. Reply:Does it thread off or just a couple of well placed taps. and where to tap?"Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
Reply:Where is Cruiser? I have taken a couple of them off with a large PLASTIC dead blow hammer hitting them on the steel on the back side of the windings. Not recommended although I never hurt one.David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:The shaft on the inside of the rotor is threaded , Just get a piece of redirod (can't remember the size, probably 3/8ths or 5/16") and thread into the rotor to push it off the tapered shaft on the engine. You may have to take a rubber mallet and whack the rotor a couple of time to free it though.

Reply:OK I have the motor and armature seperated from the fields but that rotor just doesn't want to come off the shaft. I saw the linked post with the Left hand thread but just don't see how a 2 or 3 inch stup will seperated the two. That threaded rod would need to be around a foot long to reach and push on the taper which is threaded and I don't want to damage the threads. The cooling fan is retained with a through bolt that runs the length of the entire ID of the rotor shaft threading into the crank to hold all together. I tried a couple sharp hits on the crank shaft to jarr it loos but no luck."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
Reply:OK, I am a moron its confirmed , I have re read the post a couple of times and now have picked up on the modified thru bolt to press against. It is all so clear now and should work slick just as soon as I can track down those back wards bolts . Thanks guys for being patient."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
Reply:Use a puller to remove the fan if not done already and then you can try the shortcut that "may" work. Put the through bolt all the way back in then back it off 2-3 turns. Get BFH and smack it a few times, if lucky it will let go and you are home free. This only works once in a great while but worth a try.I've had rotors that were a pain in the butt even with the Lincoln tool, smack smack, tighten tool, smack smack, repeat etc. The long nose cranks are the worst. Later short nose ones are much easier.Miller LegendMiller XMT 200Miller HF 251DMiller Spoolmatic 30AMillerTrailBlazer 250GLincoln LN 25Lincoln G9 ProLincWelder 225Lincoln Ranger 9Lincoln Ranger 275TJhttp://onanparts.com
Reply:Onanparts, sounds like you might know? The motor on this is B43E AO16 4369B. if my internals are good will they fit into any of the other B43 blocks if I can locate 1. I would like to be able to just hone it and re ring and bearing . My block has pretty good amount of pitting from water intrusion. Unit sat outside for years before I aquired it. Are all these Blocks the same other than the cranks?"Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400 |
