I am a newbie to the site and am asking for advice. I have a Thunderbolt ac only welder. I would like to add a welder to my hobby shop.Old does not bother me one bit. Choice #1 Lincoln Idealarc 1959 vintage ac only no cables,no power cord [due to bad condition and cracking] sat idle inside for 8 years.Claims o.k. when it was taken out of service $ 35. Choice#2 Lincoln Idealarc same style as choice #1 [tombstone types] this has plug.power cord, leads, electrode holder, and ground clamp.this is a ac/dc machine.Claims it works good. $ 200. Thanks for your thoughts,I can't quite strike the arc here!!!
Reply:Welcome to the site! Spend the $200 bucks! You're getting an AC/DC machine which is way better than AC only! Plus, you'll spend at least the difference getting all the accessories to make the older one workable. But then again, for $35, I'd buy that one too. You can never have too many welders! -------------John |
