I recently switched my Torch over to propane because of the recent increase in prices of acetylene, which was pretty cheap and easy.  I really like the way it cuts and obviously going to save me boat loads of cash.  But now my torch cart is useless since by 30 lb propane bottle hangs off the side.  I don't like it so I'm going to make something special, but I need ideas.  Any good ideas on an Oxy-Propane cart?  Where to put the short fat bottle next to the tall skinny Oxygen bottle?? making it balanced??  I feel like there have to be people that are particular about this stuff.  Please share if you have something. I keep the cart in the back of my trailer, but it is handy to be able to wheel it around when needed.  Basically I need a wheel chair for Laurel and Hardy like bottles.  Thanks! Here is the best idea I have seen so far on the inter-webs. Reply:How about just adding to the tongue of the cart so it supports the cylinder and call it good?
Reply:I could do that I suppose, but my plan was to make one that fit nice and snug, so the propane tank doesn't hang over the side.  Didn't know if anyone has made one specifically.Lincoln Weldanpower AC/DCLincoln LN-25Miller WC-115a Miller Spoolmatic 30aCheck out my youtube TV Channel
Reply:I feel stupid with this kind of reply.  Seems self serving.I made mine a few years back.  It's a dedicated cart just for the propane rig.  Somewhat smaller than the one I have for the O/A rig, but the same design.  It worked before, so I just reused it.Simple side-by-side stowage with a strap to snug it all up.  And fold down leg to make it easy to slide the O2 tank in and out of a pickup truck without having to wrestle it.  The tires/wheels come from HF.Everybody's seen it a bazillion times I imagine.I like the wider stance, and bigger wheels.  It makes it a breeze on rough or smooth ground.  The longer stickout in front where it rests on the ground is also for rough areas where a short nose would be unstable.I'd just make something to fit your needs I guess"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:The extra stubs on the top are for hanging stuff.  Strikers, goggles, and all the other stuff that you wind up using while your cutting/heating"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I would get a smaller cylinder like the other guys have shown.  I use an RV sized cylinder.  It will out last many oxygen tanks and I have rigged my home bulk tank with a liquid hose so I can refill my own.Dan D.
Reply:He has a 30 lb on there(common RV size) and it is the same diameter as a 20 lb(gas grill).Something I never thought of till just now is there are 25 lb cylinders that are very close in diameter to a comparable acetylene(#4,WC,145 etc) but you would have to find a propane dealer or welding supply that has or could order you one. This size cylinder is used a fair amount for acetylene replacement,Chemtane or propylene for example and all should have the same CGA 510 valve.

Reply:Here is the cart that I built for my torches. The best idea I could come up with was to make use of the space above the propane bottle, so I chose to hang the hose there. There is also space to store small items in the tubes that serve as the standoffs for the hose rack...ie in the half-moon shaped holes. The small organizer mounted on the back stores tips, striker flints, and other small parts. The side by side design works best for how my shop is set up, but may not be for everyone... If you can make use of any of the ideas you see here, feel free.  This is my first post, so hopefully the pictures work. Guess I should really post something in the introduction section.
Reply:Looks very good, nice to see larger wheels, should make rough terrain a lot easier.
Reply:The bigger the wheels the easier it will tip and roll. Mine are 20" I think.
Reply:Like the cart very much. Good job Richey
