New to the forum, been on looking around for awhile now. I thought I would share a little welding project I recently finished, I am not a pro welder, but enjoy fabrication and welding very much. The hub is 5/16" and the arms are 1/4" "MCE is my company name" Attached Images

Reply:That pretty much makes everything I've ever built look like cobbled together junk. Real nice work pilot.

Reply:Indeed a top notch job!As far as the 3/8 or 1/2" chain, looking at the tractor in the photo, it would appear to be plenty!

Reply:Originally Posted by tackitVery nice job on the build but I don't understand the hinge and cylinder pins being what looks to be around 1" to 3/4" but the grapple's attaching chain bolt only being what looks to be 3/8 or 1/2", it looks to be a bit light,  but I's ain't no expert on such things.  I think it would look more robust with a larger bolt even if it didn't need one..

Reply:Very nice. I want to build something like this to move small trees and brush like 1". I was thinking about useing a cylinder to turn it some so i could bunch up several small trees at one time to tow to a ditch.
Reply:Smart design with the jaw stops for opening and closing. It's clear a lot of thought and planning went into it. I just wonder if that tractor can handle all that weight so far back! Lincoln Precision Tig 185Lincoln Power Mig 256Hypertherm PM 45Everlast 140STSmith O/A

Reply:Excellent build.  Well done!!As a guy that cuts a lot of Firewood and pulls logs out of the woods that grapple I know is worth it's weight in gold. Some Blue , Some Red & Some GreyProverbs 16:2-3.2 "All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
