Chisholm Lead Reels are GREAT!

Just wanted to let everyone know about an experience I recently had with 2 different reel companies. A year ago I purchased a set of Lead Reels from ECO. They were good at first, but then they failed due to poor construction. I then attempted to contact their customer service with no avail after 1 month of messages left. I then decided to try a company named Chisholm-Lead Reels with somewhat of a similar reel but MUCH higher quality and workmanship. They are actually a pretty large company here in Arizona. Anyways, Chisholm Lead Reels customer support is great. I have used the reel for 4 months now and it is still in amazing shape and working like the day I received it. They powdercoat them and also do not have those damn plastic pieces at the bottom which are what broke on my ECO reel.I did not want anyone to make an uneducated decision and go to ECO reels without hearing about an experience from a fellow member here, i honestly would not send my worst enemy there!Millermatic 252Miller Syncrowave 200 Hypertherm powermax45Miller Trailblazer 275Miller 30A Spoolgun

Reply:Sorry for not replying sooner, i was not getting notifications off this thread for some reason.  Im going to upload photos tonight of my skid unit. i also just purchased another reel last week from them, a different model called a triple for my trailer. Reply:Ok fellas here are the pictures of my reels mounted on my skid. These are the Fixed based doubles 10" diameter spools. They call them "LIVE LEAD REELS" so they stay connected all the time which is very nice. i roll up and pull off lead and start work. In the picture i purchase 2 setups and just made 2 of the spools electrical extension cord reels and the 2 bottom spools i used for my leads. typically they use just one setup and that would be your neg. and pos. spools. But, i wanted to have a place to store my other cables so i went this route.These reels were 349$ each, I'm amazed they are able to sell them this cheap and still make money with the level of quality these have. I had reel craft 5-6 years ago also and i paid 1300$ for one reel, which is crazy to think since i found these.Ill post up pics of the Triple reel i purchased last week when it arrives, UPS is saying wed. Another cool thing about them is the items ship same day if its an in stock color, if its custom they asked for a 1-2 lead time. Reply:Hey just found these and found your post while looking for reviews.  Now that youve been using them a while what do you think?  What do you thing about the break/tension system to keep them from unrolling?  Is it quick to use or a hassle?

Reply:Cheesehead - Sorry for the extremely late response i was not getting notifications to my email. Yes i LOVE the reels i have used the SH** out of these things, they still look new and function as good as day one. The tension brake setup is great , i set the tension the day i installed them and have not touched it yet. I gave them a little bit of drag so that when I'm out about 50-75' and i need more i just pull what i need and thats all i get it, i didn't set the tension too tight so it would not be difficult to reel up. The key is to leave your pins locked out use tension brake while on job site just use the pins for end of day locking.TimmyTIG - I have thought about the same problem, not sure on how to stop that unless you lock them away in a cabinet.ttweld05 - I did, they do any custom color you could think of at no extra charge, it took about 3 day lead time but it was worth the wait the color is bada**. Reply:ttweld05 - Absolutely, they are still working great without any problems. I really can't see my self ever having a setup without reels, i used to hang or just throw my lead in my tool box and now i can wrap up quick and be on the road after a job.  There customer service is amazing also, i had a buddy get a pair and he was installing them and realized the powder coat was chipping. Reply:I bought these reels about a month ago. So far do good. Only advice would be to buy the bigger spools regardless of how much the chart says you can fit. In order to get 100' of 2/0 on my 10" reels (can hold 125' I believe) I have to be very careful about how I roll them up. Kind of a pain.
