Wheel Chock Made from pipe and angle iron

I welded this up a few years ago for something else. I didn't intend it to be a wheel chock. But it works out great as a wheel chock. I made it for a pivot point on a home made backhoe. But it didn't work great for that. I set it aside for awhile and one day I needed to chock the wheel on a trailer and grab this since it was in close range. I didn't know how good it would work. But turns out it works great. It's made from a piece of old steel drain pipe from an old house and some 3 x3" angle iron. I think that's the dimensions of the angle iron.It was just made from some scrap laying around. I might make a few more of these "accidental" wheel chocks. lolAttachment 788381Chad

Reply:It being rough is just a comment on the part not the function.I imagine there is a lot of thought to the design of these things and if it is prone to push back instead of down a few inches of movement can ruin your day if you are working underneath.
Reply:I like using chocks that aren't obvious at first in case of an unauthorized person up to no good.One quick and dirty chock I saw was made with a large piece of square tubing with another piece half the size welded perpendicular to the end.  It worked pretty well.Usually I'll grab a rock or a split log.  I even have one wedge of wood that I've been using for years that has a nylon rope threaded through it because it was on the top of one of those convenience store fire wood bundles.
