First post so to introduce myself I'm a builder in So-Cal that specializes in remodel and new home construction. I recently made the move to brake away from multiple storage units and am anxiously awaiting the move to my first real shop. In anticipation for the move I have been watching Craigslist as often as possible and stumbled on a very lightly used Demmeler 4'x8' table and clamps that I picked up today. So to get to the point what is the typical value of this set up? After buying the set up I have been told by multiple friends that it is worth way more then what I paid and am just curious. In addition and probably more importantly any info of where to purchase additional clamps would be awesome and also if there are other brand clamps that work on the table. Thanks, MattLast edited by mrt111; 10-27-2015 at 12:24 AM.
Reply:That is a sweet setup and not something you see on CL very often, as I search CL nationwide on a pretty regular basis. You can buy genuine Bluco tables & tooling direct from Bluco new or reconditioned. Re-con is 20% less than new. I have bought tooling brand new, recon and from equipment auctions and have never received anything that didnt work perfectly. I will private message you my sales contact at Bluco. They are the best quality of this type product. Some things I will stay strickly bluco while other pieces of tooling I would consider from other makers. Here are some other makers below.http://www.bluco.com/Gandt makes tables/tooling. Their stuff looks to be nicely machined and is less expensive but is not hardened. Some of their PC bolts do not look to be compatible with the radiused holes of the Demmeler table.http://www.gandtweld.com/This is a reseller of Gandt in Houston, Tx.http://www.fitupgear.com/Siegmund makes tables/tooling which I believe is the closest quality to Bluco/Demmeler. http://stronghandtools.com/siegmundtables/index.phpavailable from http://www.trick-tools.com/Stay far away from the https://www.baileigh.com/ version of these tables. I wouldn't even bother with their tooling either considering it is likely cheap Chinese. The new retail price for your table with legs, lifting ring and a few other accessories is $15,800 from Bluco. Your table is the D16 version with is made from 1/2 thick plate, weights roughly 900#s and can support 13,000 pounds. SOmething I did not know was that your table has 16mm diameter holes, thus the name D16. Duh. My Bluco table is the D28 series table with 28mm holes so our tooling would not be compatible. So you'll have to be sure you get 16mm diameter tooling going forward from whatever vendor you choose. Sending you a PMLast edited by Jimmy_pop; 10-27-2015 at 10:32 AM.
Reply:Thanks so much for all of the info! Well I'm a little excited after getting the setup for under $1k You mentioned the lifting ring, is that intended to lift the table? If so where does it attach?
Reply:Damn, I would have loved to find that in SoCal.  What did you pay if you don't mind me asking?  Something like that is a rather rare find.
Reply:The lifting ring attaches to the top surface of the table with two of the locking bolts. That is an insane deal you got. Must have been a pissed off ex-wife you bought that from. The two larger angles you have, are each worth, retail, about $1100. small angles about $600 ea. the lifting ring is $245. Each bolt is $150. Each clamp is about $200. You got a deal. At auction, I was able to buy about $20,000 worth of tooling for roughly $2,000. So I am a pretty happy camper with my deal of the century. Your table is only a few years old because they have not always had the black finish to them. There is a serial number stamped into the top surface of one of the corners that you can document the value with Bluco for insurance purposes. Better document it cause no insurance adjuster is going to take your word that your welding table kit is worth about $20k.FYI, Bluco has a buy back program where they will buy back your Bluco products. They give roughly 50% of msrp. You might get alittle more than that on ebay but it would take a long while to sell. Ive moved my table several times over the last couple of years and recently this month to a new shop. Last edited by Jimmy_pop; 10-27-2015 at 02:49 PM.

Reply:Well guys I feel really really lucky! I was checking Craigslist and it was on the top of the page and just happened to hit it at the right time and called right away... The company I bought it from specials in liquidating assets of business that relocate or go under... long story short I got it for $750 and it seems that I'll have it for the rest of my life  The down side I suppose if there is one is that I'm going to have to save my pennies to get more clamps but I suppose thats the least of my worries. Time to build something now!Jimmy sounds like you hit a homer also! Congrats!
Reply:Dude that's a deal of a lifetime.  If you need help with tooling, let me know. I'm local and could probably make most of it for you instead of buying it.
Reply:@ Jimmy_pop - have you scanned the Siegmund 16 Series up close and personal? The tables appear well designed and built at a distance.  Seem similar to a Bluco 16 Series at a cost of ~ 25-40% less.  Are the Siegmund 3-ball, PC bolts functionally close to the Bluco {newer, non-wedged} bolts?"Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
