Very quick question, hopefully someone out there knows. Their web site does not specify a Country of Origin, which usually means China, but I'd like to confirm, if possible.   Please do not speculate.  The internet is already full of guesses ( Germany, Iowa, China, Sheffield UK, etc ).  If you have actual knowledge, though, please do reply.  Thank you.__David Hillman
Reply:They used to be all made in england.  All the stuff in the last year is made in china and it all sucks now.  I have 2 7" saws that lasted for years.  The new 7.25 lasted 45 minutes, the replacement one, lasted 35 minutes.  Ripped the manufacture a new one, so they took it back.  So I put a new motor on the old one.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
Reply:What does it matter where it's made? It's either good quality, something in the middle, or crap quality no matter where it's made. That being said if you really want to know where they are made I have my Evolution Steel sitting 10' feet away I will check and post it if you like. And yes I am on my couch and my saw is in the living room and no my wife doesn't approve at all. Please don't judge

Reply:I was going to say they were made by Darwin...but you seemed pretty serious in that first post..Weldandpower Lincoln 225 AC,DC with Briggs 16hp gas engine.WW2 era Miller TIG.
Reply:I see they have a 'contact us' link like most companies. Could be if you sent them a question you might get a straight forward answer. Probaly not, but ya never know. Probably some vague non-answer. Try it tho. http://www.evolutionpowertools.co.uk/us/index.html"The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:I have Rage DB one from Evo and I would not recommend either of these saws- quality is OK but it shoots shards of material all over the placethe Clamping system SUCKS!!!!I really wish we had purchased the Fury 2 14"Ed Conleyhttp://www.screamingbroccoli.com/MM252MM211 (Sold)Passport Plus & Spool gunLincoln SP135 Plus- (Gone to a good home)Klutch 120v Plasma cutterSO 2020 benderBeer in the fridge
Reply:i have the Evo steel 7" circular saw and have had no problems with it. no place of manufacture on it. i looked hard at the 14" Evo steel saw 2 and am very happy that i bought the Steel Max instead because the Evo did not have the features such as the quick release vise which also seems to be better made than the Evo's vise. it has a clear shield to protect the eyes also while cutting. price for the Steel max is quite a bit more but it has been going strong on an almost daily basis for almost 2 years and has cut a ton of steel. sorry to say it is made in china. i would buy another if i needed one. the 14" Evo doesn't say anywhere on it where it is made. i just bought the Evo rage 4, 7.25"  with the multi purpose blade and it seems to do a great job on the smaller stock i bought it for. time will tell though as to the quality.Last edited by jbmprods; 10-29-2011 at 03:33 AM.225NT bobcatAEAD200LEScott 125mm175, mm252 w 30A, PT225mm211, TA 181iHyper Therm 380, cut master 529100X & XX, Digital Elite6 Victor setssmith little torch, meco midget kalamazoo band sawsteel max saw evoulution circular saw

It also throws chipps everywhere and has a rather cheap clamping system for a near $600 saw. It does however cut very well. I have cut a bunch of 1/8 wall square tubing as well as a host of othe materials and have not had to replace the blade yet. If you want to buy quality then go Milwaukee.

Reply:The evolution saws made at Britain. But now many other countries like China, America also made them. They come in different varieties and their cost vary according to their quality. But be aware during purchasing them. Check their quality properly.------------------------Log Splitter Ireland

You have to look at it from a companies point of view. I can build my product in america and pay way more in labor and then either go out of business because there is no profit. Or sell it for more and go out of business because my product is over priced. Or have it made somewhere else for dirt cheap and stay in business and make money. And if I stay in business and make money then I can feed my family.
Reply:and again I ask.....how many of the by American crowd shop at Walfart?200amp Air Liquide MIG, Hypertherm Plasma, Harris torches, Optrel helmet, Makita angle grinders, Pre-China Delta chop saw and belt sander, Miller leathers, shop made jigs etc, North- welders backpack.
Reply:I can't tell ya when the last time I was in a wallymart was for sure. Been years. They don't do anything for me. The whole scenario makes me think of the old "jack of all master of none" thing. Any store that carries a little bit of everything probably doesn't carry a lot of anything. A loaf of bread, pair of pliers and a hose splice all in one store isn't my bag of tea. I need guns 'n ammo I go to a gun shop. Need welding supplies I go to a LWS. Need hardware I go to a hardware store. If I get some sort of pleasure out of watching small local businesses fold up I'll start shopping on line maybe. From a chi-com site to boot. Buy from the one you want to survive, that's my phylosophy. Besides I can't stand the wallymart crowds. I have to go once every five years or so just to remind myself what it's like."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:While were along the lines of pointing out the failures of our current economic situation, here is a good article that used information by some nobel prize winning egg heads. It's about offshoring of work, which was also brought about by taxation and excessive regulation aka government at its best.http://www.informationclearinghouse....ticle28212.htmAC-180 Lincolnwelder circa '50's
