Sa-200 / What weight engine oil?

Just purchased a used 1981 SA-200. Like to confirm the correct weight of oil used in the SA-200. Owners manual did not state what weight of oil required for an oil change. I would think 10W-30 for winter operations and possibly 10W-40 for the summer operations. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Reply:6GR I have a 1975 SA200 and my owner manual doesn't have anything on the specific oil to use that I can find. Here in West Texas where I live the weather doesn't get too bad and I run 10w-40 all the time changing it pretty regular because of the dirt problems out here. I am trying to get an owners manual, have located the source but have to contact them during the day hours and have not been able to do so. Their website says they manuals to download but dont give a website or cost. When I find out will get back with you. jt

Reply:6GR go to MidAmericaPowerCenter.com has phone number to call and get a free download of the manual for your engine, have to call to get it, can not get it off their web site. I called this morning and about 1 hour later received the manual for the engine.

Reply:Besides, it ain't rocket science.  This is a flathead engine dating back to the 1930's.  They didn't have multigrade back then.  You can use just about anything that keeps you happy.Currently have 10-W-30 dino in mine.  Will change to 0-W-30 synthetic in the spring and will run it year round.Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."
