Reply:Anyone can drag a 7018 rod flat, in a fillet....literally a monkey could be trained to do that. But welding involves reading the puddle, not just burying the arc and praying for fusion, tying in to both walls, with no undercut and uniform bead...This reminds me of the video of the pipewelder lifting his hood while running a root on a o-let. I mean yea its pretty easy sometimes where the rod "runs itself" on a root pass when the root opening is right and your heat is perfect, but I rather see the keyhole and KNOW that Im breaking down both walls and tying in...So basically prepared to get flamed big time
Reply:You save a lot of money on clear lenses and those filters. Head never gets to hot from being inside a helmet. I'm in! Reply:i saw a picture someplace of someone manning 3 or 4 very long arc welding rods propped up on a spring loaded lean to device welding in the flat position. i think he was using this to weld stiffeners in a shipyard and the rods were burning almost un-attended.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:No helmet, short sleeves, open neck, seems like a good way to get skin cancer and cataracts.

Reply:Mick is right on with the '' STUPID ''. Video worked for me now. Great safety, no hat or long sleeves and I like the way he tries to shield the sparks with his left hand. It appears he really wants to look too without the hood. Not to mention all the sparks spattering the inside lens of the hood. I doubt if he has a clear plastic lens on the inside.
Reply:Make you one of these so you can look. |
