This came home Friday.... 4x8 x1/2" piece of plate. Using 2.5 square tube with 1/4" wall for the legs. The upper frame is 4" channel. The bottom shelf will be 2.5 1/4" angle. Receiver hitches will be addedLast edited by camjeep3; 07-20-2014 at 01:32 PM.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Got a few more pieces to cut and then I'll start assembling the frame. I have a bush hog repair do to tomorrow and I didn't have much time yesterday. But I want it at least usable by the weekend.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com

Reply:You have a forklift!   Wish I had one of those to move things around my shop.Thermal Arc  Power-Tech 10/270  stick welderLincoln buzz-boxPurox O/A setupNothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool
Reply:My grandfather has it. He lives behind us and his shop is beside us. It is a handy tool... Not sure how id be doing the project without it- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:That sure is a pretty hunk of plate for sure. Maybe consider getting a couple of saw horses , some 2''x4''s, and a sheet of plywood to work off of. That workin on the floor stuff gets old quick. Or ask  GRAMPS to leave the fork truck there and setup on the forks.
Reply:Just a thought, if you want that 1/2" plate to stay nice and flat. Build your support legs to be free standing and attach your plate with a whole bunch of small tack welds. It wont warp that way.
Reply:Thanks guy. Workin on the floor sucks. That's why the table is being built lol. I should of got some horses or something. Oh well.... The table will be tacked to the main frame. I just welded up one of the ends. The plan is to attach the ends with the bottom shelf and use the forklift to set tje top on the frame. And then attach the two long supports on the top. Here is one end welded up. - Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Nice looking leg frames.
Reply:I built my 3/4" 6x8 table upside down then took it outside to flip over. The bobcat with forks helped.Tim Beeker.
Reply:I thought about flipping it too. We will see- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Table is complete enough to flip over and start using. Flipped right over with no trouble. Still need to add the bottom shelf and the hitches. As well as a place to hang clamps and grinders. But I can use it!!! Attached Images- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Nice , are you going to add casters ??  If not I would tack a plate to the bottom of the legs. You are really going to be spoiled now !  Working on a flat surface in the UPRIGHT position, you'll be in heaven !
Reply:no casters on this one. I am going to put some "feet" on it though. Yeah Im ready to be off the floor!- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:I was at an auction this spring and a similar table (albeit smaller and well used) with 2 vises sold for $150. I let it go because I didn't think I had a big enough truck with me to get it home. Later I saw a guy squeeze it into a pickup and I've been kicking my butt ever since for not bidding. I'm sure you paid well over that for metal. The last sale I was at a bigger one sold for over $600 with one old vise. Still not a bad deal considering the weight of the steel and the value of the vise (it was old but big, and solid... maybe an 8"). I'm still fighting to get my shop finished enough to start adding goodies like this so I'll keep an eye open for another good deal or eventually bite the bullet and build what I want like you did.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
Reply:thats funny. a week before I bought that plate a table went for 150 or so... only a 1/4' top but had a nice base and was larger than my table... it happened so fast I couldnt react. My dad and friend were kicking me the rest of the day for not bidding... Thats the thing you cant think at an auction!I have been cleaning up in the shop and should start working on finishing this thing up soon!- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:A fine solid build. Sturdy welding table. Great job.PlasmaCam CNC cutterLathe and Band SawClamps
Reply:My current table is smaller and thinner and needs to be upgraded, but I did mount 2 vises on it, a 4" and 6". One thing I did do right was to keep the stationary jaws lined up. Now when I need to work on long pieces of metal, I can clamp them into both vises at once. Just a thought...250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
