hi, i just bought a powerwave 450 but miss the synergic 7 wirefeeder. - is it possible to connect this to LN 25 or similar LN product?- can i use other wirefeeders?- is there a slight chance of finding a synergic 7 wirefeeder used? (or is this rare?)thanks,
Reply:I have a Powerwave 450 Robotic that I tried to setup on a semi-automatic wire feeder. I consulted with our local Lincoln engineer as well as tinkered myself with really no results. Lincoln states the only compatible wire feeder with the power source is the synergic 7 wie feeder. I did try an ln 7, however the "Synergy" communication that is required between the wire feeder and power source made that attempt useless. The only thing I did get to work was modifying the robotic synergy 7 wire feeder to run of a whip and be actuated off the trigger. Made a real compact wire feeder though. At the time, I never thought of using an ln 25, but perhaps using the across the arc ability would work, but then you would be limited to purely CV operation.Just a word to the wise, I know of a guy here who electrocuted himself trying to accomplish the same thing with a ln 7. They gave up after his death, they were just handed down a $100,000 fine a couple of months ago. Just make sure the power is disconnect if you open up the case. |
