If anyone is using the Hobart or Miller straight 6-50P Plug, Part Number 219258, I would appreciate if you could measure the size of the hole the cable goes through on the back, I want to make sure it will be big enough for the cable I am currently using.I will be using the plug for my 220V Heater, not one of my welders, don't want to use a 90 degree plug.Thanks.Working on cars and bikes is my hobby, learning to weld the pieces together is my quest.

Reply:Ok, here is the bad news.....As you can see, that plug is a molded plug that you cannot take apart to wire on to an existing bare wire cord....It's an exact factory replacement for several dual voltage machines, not just the Hobart....So forget buying it expecting to install it on bare cord....You could buy the whole cord and plug, tho.The OEM cord on my Hobart measures exactly 5/8" OD...Google up just the part # in google images and you will see it is exactly like mine in that it is designed to screw onto the end of dual voltage OEM cord where at the screw junction it gets converted to 4 prong small spade to 3 prong 6-50....But no way can you open it up and attach it to bare cord.Last edited by wornoutoldwelder; 11-06-2015 at 07:58 PM.
