Other than a high dollar bender does anyone have any good ideas on how to bend tube and rods into good circles? i'm wanting to bend some 1/8 thick solid rod into a circle so i can weld the ends together. thanks.
Reply:What diameter are you looking for? .125" should be a breeze to bend even w/o heat. Use something as a mandrel the size you want. There are probably dozens of things you could use from an old rim, different sizes of cut off pipe, etc.I should add this is for rod, tubing will want to flatten out if you go about it in the wrong manner. Again, depends on dia. you are looking for.
Reply:If it is solid bar two options come to mind:1. Tack the end to a pipe of the proper diameter and muscle it around. I have done this many times.2. Get or make a ring roller. Harbor freight sells one. Do a search for ring roller on this sit there are many threads.Dave ReberWadsworth Ohio |
