Saw this on CL and called the guy, no response yet. I googled Lincoln images but of all them shown didn't see one this style/shape, all shown were tombstones. Anybody know what model this is and if so is it any different than a tombstone? Listing says its 15yrs old.thanks, Brian
Reply:Can't read the model number.  Ask the seller.  Looks like a well made machine.
Reply:Pretty sure the squared-off tombstones I've seen were Canadian. Here is a similar one - faceplate not all in English.Edit:  the red blob in your pic is likely the Canadian maple leaf.Try a google search for Lincoln W352 AC/DC WelderLast edited by MinnesotaDave; 07-03-2014 at 12:14 PM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:thanks for the input.  Brian
Reply:MinnesotaDave right you are, owner just responded and sent this pic, so it is a Canadian made 352. He doesn't have a receptacle for the plug but has 220 in the garage, basically can't try it out, little nervous about buying it without a "test drive" but I will definitely check it out. Given the general feeling these are fairly bullet proof would lack of a power test be a deal breaker to any of you? Asking price is $275, least expensive of all listed on CL in the area, looks to be in good condition in the pics.  thanks, Brian
Reply:Take the plug off the end of the cord and hard wire the welder into the receptacle with some wire nuts. Two hots and a ground will get you up and running. I wouldn't be overly concerned about the wire gauge of the 220 service as long as you are only going to be checking the welder.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:Yep, hard wire or bring the right plug with you and swap it out. Those lincolns work seemingly forever Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:I'd go with hard wiring over bringing the correct plug and swapping it out. Furthermore, I'd be spewing about as much dire and dangerous criticism as possible about the gauge of the wiring I was hard wiring into because the seller may know little to nothing about a simple wiring job and the low cost is due to his not wanting to call in an "expensive" electrician in to do the necessary wiring. No use in showing the seller how easy the job is and losing the buy.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.

Reply:Should be a bulletproof old welder unless you smell old smoke or see a lot of rust.  The fact that you can't test it (easily) says that you should either get to try it at home with return rights or buy it much cheaper.  I bought my Syncrowave 250 for $850. without testing it.  I wasn't too worried about it not working. Never have fired up my $50. 1952 AC180C, but I have faith."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
Reply:Can't run, then definitely offer lower price!
Reply:As suggested above i cut off the plug and used wire nuts to connect to the 220 circuit.  Ran a few beads, no problem, got it for $250, not a killer deal but a fair price imo. He is the original owner from Canada, says he hardly used it, mostly just sitting in his garage, a little dinged up from being knocked around in the garage but thats about it.  thanks again for the help/suggestions, Brian

Reply:That's a good deal for $250.  Looks like the enclosure comes off like an older round top. Should be much easier to work on than the squared off ones.
Reply:I think you did well. I've yet to see one of those go for under $500 at the farm auctions around here.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes
Reply:I'd say that was a great price for an AC/DC where I just paid 299.00 for just Lincoln's 225 arc from home depot two months ago....friends call me MacGyver, cause I make anything from something        now they want me to make anything from nothing
Reply:My rule of thumb is $50. - $150. for an AC225 and $150. - $250. for an AC/DC 225/125.  The high side assumes very nice condition and maybe some accessories and a box or two of rods.  Of course, this varies by location.  In a tri-state area around here, Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DC units in nice shape are going for $300. - $400., occasionally less. Have seen buzz-box AC/DC welders of various other brands for $75. - $125., with leads."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder
