sa 200 code / sn#

found an old sa 200 but the face plate can't be read. is the sn and code located anywhere else on the machine?thanksdave

Reply:The serial number isn't anywhere else, the code number should be stamped on the generator barrel at around 2 o'clock and may be covered by the paint.JTMcC.

Reply:From the pics I see:- The octagon generator from the years 1972 - 1992.- The electronic idler that came in May 1973 @ code 7275.- The welding lead connections were mounted the way yours are between 1973 and 1979Would you be able to lightly sand the code and serial to see if the numbers show up or was it not stamped?Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."
Reply:I have 2 of them just like yours,I belive one of the guys told me on the starter side of the welder or you could say if it was your truck the passenger side,just pass where the octagon part of the generator is where it is smooth and you may have to lightly sand the area at about one oclock or so you should find the code #s I found them on both of mine.
