I apologize if this is a stupid question but I was given a welding cart that puts welder on a slant. The front is about 4 or 5 inches higher than the back. Before I start using the cart, I wanted to be sure the welder will be OK on that much of a slant. (Lincoln SP-135 Plus). I guess the guy that built it must have liked the face of his welder tipped up.
Reply:as long as the shielding gas doesnt fall out of it...you can always get some umbilical cord to secure it to the cart...Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:Your welder will be perfectly fine. My mm211 has been slanted for 2-3yrs now with no problems.
Reply:Machines are frequently placed on a slant for uphill and downhill welding. KIDDING ! I think that since a lot of mig welding is done on the bench, a slant will help keep a long sweep in the cable and may make wire feeding easier. It also may permit easier viewing of controls. It depends what each person prefers.

Reply:If it was a water cooler for a Tig machine. Or an engine drive welder I’d have concern, but not an electric welder.Don’t pay any attention to meI’m just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:I alway thought it was stupid looking, but the machine would be fine.
Reply:it will put extra strain on the lead as it leaves the gun and it may very well wear out the liner faster as the wire will ride in the same spot on the liner.  They tip up for easier viewing of the controls.   There is a reason they put adjustable feeders on some wire feeders for industrial machines.  It eases the strain on the gun and liner.  Miller 70 series wire feeders "Toolless Rotatable Drive Assembly Allows operator to rotate the drive housing, allowing a straight path for wire flow."AWS CWI xxxx21711968 SA200  Originally Posted by WelderMike  I hate being bipolar, It's awesome.
