Duane this is the welder in question Thanks
Reply:Nice looking unit. Is that the one that was listed on the Phoenix area craigslist? That SN would make it a late '74 model. Is there anything in these photos you're unsure of what it is?MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Yes that is the one from craigslist I got it last nite, engine runs fine but no arc or electric.I can't find anything on it as far as troubleshotting or fixing or ant pics of what anything is,if I had some idea of what things were I have a friend that do some testing but I dont know what to test. Any help you could give would be great.I looked at the operators manuel but it doesn't say much except how to demagnitize and how to sand the brushes and thats it.Thanks for the interest.
Reply:Well checking the rotor (resistance/continuity between slip rings) to determine if the windings are open, shorted or OK would be one check. Same goes for the stator but before I went that far I would go ahead and flash the field (remagnetize the rotor) to see if that did the trick. You'll get some sparks from placing the flashing battery leads on the brush field connections just don't touch the threaded part so as to damage the stud threads from arcing.Another possible problem could be a failed field flashing diode (directly under the bearing) and this can be quickly checked with a volt/ohm meter.Going to send you a PM.DuaneMM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base! |
