I currently have a Miller Spectrum 375 with an ICE 27 torch.  A PM30 is available locally.  The only complaints on the Miller is its weight of around 70# with the cart and the POS cover on the torch which is hard plastic and has an annoying memory.  Unless its 80* out, you can't get the torch to uncoil.  The Miller is in mint condition, not a scratch on it.  It seems to be rated at a slightly better cut thickness than the PM30 although the PM has 3 more amps on tap.  The PM is around 20# in weight, so instead of having it take up space in my garage or lugging it down the basement, I can hang it from a hook or put it on a shelf.  My gut is to just keep the Miller and deal with the small problems.  I'm just a hobby guy.  What say you?TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:I'm a huge miller fan, but my only plasma cutter is a pm30.  I can't say enough good stuff about it.  Miller makes a good unit, but I feel that HT is a bit better overall. With a new tip I cut 18' of (semi rusty) 1/4" diamond plate, then proceeded to cut all of the pieces for a 5 ton feed hopper out of 14 ga. (probably 500' of cutting) with 1 tip.  all on almost full blast (and dragging).  Speed is the keyI challenge any other plasma to do thatBuy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.
Reply:the 375 xtreme is about the same size as the PM30. The one I have is great, it cuts up to 1/2 pretty well and anything 1/4 and less is fast
Reply:I bought a Powermax 30 about a month ago, on line $1025 no shippping no tax.  I didnt use a plasma torch in about 15 years and this is my first one at home.  My experience is practically nil, so this is what i know.  This thing rips.  Used it on 120v. only.  Cut 1/16 stainless to 1/4 mild steel, great cuts with no experience.  Looked at some chicom units on line, a Thermaldynamics cut 42 and the Hypertherm at the lws.  The local shops all said Hypertherm.  Would have bought local, but with sales tax it was almost $200 more, and its made in the USA. I'm just a hobby guy, so my thoughts are only from my limited experience.
Reply:What do you think would be a fair price to ask for my Miller? It has the factory cart, a factory cover, and not a scratch on it.  Still has the original tip on it, and the accessory bag with extra tips in the storage compartment.Would $750 be out of hand?TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
