In Australia these are known as "taper lock"  fittings, widely used to adapt a pulley or a sprocket to a wide variety of alternative shaft sizes. On another Forum, a guy from the US is having great difficulty obtaining these, yet they should be very readily obtainable in standard metric and imperial sizes all over the world.I can think of a few fairly common items that are known by very different names in different countries. So what do Americans call these widgets ?Cheers,  Tony._________________________________Transmig 310 + Argoshield LightOxy acetyleneOxy propanePrehistoric stick welder_________________________________
Reply:Taper lock bushing ?
Reply:The ones I'm familiar with usually have flanges on them with three bolts to draw 'em in.  We always called them taper locks.  I hate them.  They hold great, but sometimes become permanent. My name's not Jim....

Reply:These are sometimes called Dodge bushings for the brand name of taper lock bushing.http://www.dodge-pt.com/products/pt_.../bushings.htmlYou can get a general assortment from McMaster-Carrhttp://www.mcmaster.com/#taper-lock-bushings/=gct4ki
Reply:I call em a taper lock.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Yep, taper locksTim Beeker.
Reply:As mentioned above /\/\/\ those pictured are "taper lock bushings". If you have room for more section width and need more grip then you use "QD bushings" with a flange on them.Matt
Reply:Thanks again, that helps a lot.Cheers,  Tony._________________________________Transmig 310 + Argoshield LightOxy acetyleneOxy propanePrehistoric stick welder_________________________________

Reply:taper lock or TB -   I used to dread seeing those big orders coming through calling for "e" anything, thats a big frikkin hole.Used to do sheaves - cast steel up to 6 grooves and up to nearly two foot in O.D.   with an e bore.  absolutely positively guaranteed to give you a headache (and a back ache)sprockets weren't nearly as bad, except for the sk and btb bores welding on a hub less than a half inch thick got old quick. When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.
