Threw this together in about an hour. Can you guess what it is? Hint: Motorcycle related. I'll show it in action when I get the part it was used to remove back from powder coating. Reply:Swing arm removal tool.
Reply:Swing arm shouldnt need a specific puller or press unless it is seized. It is supposed to be a free float design. Same with the axles. I guess it would depend on the bike. At first glance it almost looked like a homemade bearing press for the triple tree, but its hard telling now lol.

Reply:Will the power coat bake get hot enough to temper the springs.  I have no idea how hot powder coat bakes.Dan D.Manipulator Of Metal
Reply:Should bake at 350 or 250 degrees if I recall correctly. No hotter than an average household stove, as you can powder coat at home in your kitchen lol.

Reply:Originally Posted by bratkid63As I recall, it takes around 1400 degrees to temper a steel spring. Powder coat bakes at about 350. I'll let you know how it works out for me! (Seems to work out OK for HD on their new Dynas.)
Reply:..Here it is in action. Springs have not lost any "springiness" after powder coating. Attached ImagesMiller Thunderbolt AC/DC (Sold)Miller Dialarc 250HFMiller MM251Miller MM200 (Sold)Miller MM130Miller Spot WelderVictor O/A rigMiller Spoolmatic 1 (Sold)
Reply:Nice bike. I was stumped by the bottom square tube cross piece. Great to see it all together. I can't imagine how folks get by without a welder... just too darn handy for solving jobs like this. Years ago I built a strut compressor that works similarly... except I put the strut in the lathe and compressed using the tailstock. http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...uick-and-dirty
