Gotcha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!It's sorta welding I guessAnother fly in the ointment.  The well tank has been leaking for a few weeks, and I haven't had time to get around to fixing it.Old tank, and where the leak was was leaking somewhere on the bottom of the tank, dunno where, don't care........just replaced the whole thing.  It's about 25yrs old.ZEE WELDINGNew tank  Only $160   EXCUSE ME, ONLY $159.99All the plumbing to get it in.  I DO NOT LIKE PLUMBING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Only upside to the whole thing was, at least the thing was AMERICAN MADE!!  So somebody, somewhere, got a meal offa this purchase, and it wasn't Egg Foo Yong"Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:These things are actually pretty cool.The tank has an air bladder that's inflated to 28psi.  The well pump will start up at 30psi, and shut down at 50psi.  So the pressure differential is what allows the tank to store water under pressure for use in the house.  It will use the air bladder to "pump" the water into the house until it's empty.  BUT, the well pump will kick on at 30psi to keep the tank charged so it always has delivery.The idea is that the pump doesn't run constantly when the faucet is turned on, it just runs to charge the tank intermittently."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Yeah Samm, it's called solvent welding. Read the label on the glue bottle, it's on there if you are using the same type I do and probably other brands.I used a tank like you took out and made a charcoal grill out of it. It had the diaphragm in it like the diagram on the box in the picture. I can think of things other than plumbing that I would rather not do ahead of plumbing with PVC. Like digging in sticky clay soil with a lot of roots in it, using a shovel.

Reply:That's when it's better to have a jack hammer, cause it's like digging in hardened concrete. I have been at THAT for a few days looking for a leak in the line from my septic tank to the field line. So it's all wet and sticky right now. It's a b1tch to get it off the shovel or post hole diggers when I pull out a wad. I think I am expending more effort clearing the stuff off than I do actually digging it up.I connected two of the tanks like you, have earlier this year, n my well, except they are each a bit larger for more capacity.Last edited by Bistineau; 10-06-2014 at 07:23 PM.
