I am looking at a project repairing a broken step on a starting block at a pool.  This one is a volunteer job and I am trying to keep it simple.  My plan is TIG weld it.  Just thought I would see if any of you had any advice on the project.  Especially what filler rod you recommend.  Here are a couple photos of the damaged part.  Not sure why the lower image is upside down.  It is the right side up before I uploaded it.   Thanks in advance,Keith
Reply:Clean the crap out of it....Clamp it back together...309 it to death....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I would consider capping that tube end, should help prevent tearing in the future.
Reply:spray muriatic acid on the rust, it should remove it in seconds, rinse it off really well, then clamp then weld it with 308.Welding/Fab Pics: www.UtahWeld.com
Reply:I would just use 309L or 308 .....and STICK!   Easy.   Lincoln Power Mig 216Lincoln AC/DC-225/125Miller  625 X-Treme PlasmaMiller 211 Forney 95FI-A 301HF 91110Victor Journeyman O/PMilwaukee DaytonMakita  Baileigh NRA Life Member
