Last Friday I ordered my Rage 3DB saw. Like most orders, I received an email confirmation."Your Order 254525 Is Being Processed! Most orders ship the same or next business day. You will receive automatic email tracknig updates as shipment(s) are made. If you do not receive additoinal updates promptly visit weldingsupply.com and use the mystore link a to see the most current status of your order. Current Order Status: Date: 2/25/2012Tracking No: (In Process)"The price was $361.59 + ~$17 dollars shipping. This morning I receive an email:"We have prepared your order 254525 for shipping and estimate that shipping will cost $49.95. Though you have pre-approved shipping, we are holding your order and sending this courtesy notice because shipping cost is high relative to the order value. Please reply to this email, or call 847 290 1070 to confirm your acceptance of these shipping costs so we can complete your order. For customer service please call 847 290 1070Thank You,www.weldingsupply.com "Which puts the price quite a bit over what I can get it for other places. Apparently when you check out at weldingsupply the invoiced shipping costs are just a figment of their imagination. I talked to Customer Service, and the Customer Service manager, and they were not willing to do anything. I will never buy from them again.14' PowerMig 210 MP13'Burntables 5x10 CNC Table14' SAE300 HE on a 12' Ram 4500 60 CA 4x4. Reply:I haven't dealt with weldersupply lately. I have dealt with Scott Gross Welding Supply. I can only speak of great thing about them I have ordered several things from them. One order got messed up but not due to their end. It was the UPS that messed up. I called Scott Gross and they coodinated with ESAB and UPS to make it right. They were very helpful in resolving my problem. I try to purchase everything I do online through this company due to a loyalty issue. But, loyalty will only carry a company so far. They have to earnb it and work to keep it. Honest mistakes won't end the loyalty, but abuse will. They also have the best prices on the things I have ordered.
Reply:I have ordered from them in the past. A few orders were wrong but they resolve right away and even added to my order at no charge for the inconvenience.Hypertherm Powermax45Miller auto 140 migMiller Econotig Watercooledwith wp24w TorchLincoln Power255XTNew(Lincoln V205 ac/dc)Miller Elite Helmet
Reply:I've got a Motorguard M-26 Plasma filter en route and it's going to be about a week late. Not happy about that and I hope they got it right.
Reply:This is not the customer service you should be providing in this pandemic of an economy. If they would have just ate 20 bucks in shipping costs, this thread wouldn't have been here, nor on 3 other forums. I really think its unfair. I wonder who their supplier is, or if it drop shipped from Medford tools or evolution tools, not sure if medford just carries them or?... I might give them a ring tomorrow and tell them how I feel, currently I am unsatisfied at both companies. I dont have a problem with drop shipping, in fact 2 welders in the last year have been dropped shipped from Lincoln and have been awesome, Shipping company even called me to schedule an appointment as I suggested..Guess I should just get the idea of this saw out of my head and buy a real tool, like a band saw.It seems welding supply has their head up their a$$14' PowerMig 210 MP13'Burntables 5x10 CNC Table14' SAE300 HE on a 12' Ram 4500 60 CA 4x4. Reply:I agree with ya, I ordered some stuff from them and didnt get my package for a month because the moron's there were waiting on a manufacturer to ship the fire resistant shirt I ordered. You would think if there is going to be that much of a delay they would offer to split the order.... no f&$%ing way. A$$holes on the phone too. Won't deal with them again, hope they go **** up soon.AC-180 Lincolnwelder circa '50's
Reply:recently i ordered a gas solenoid setup for my xmt 350; their price was about the best or close to the best i could find online; i knew when i ordered that there would be the possibility of a delay because it is an oem specialty item coming from the mfg. they sent me an email and offered to split the order but noted that i would have to pay additional shipping charges on the miller item. from your post i gather that they informed you there would be a delay, did they offer you the option of splitting the order, paying the additional freight, or canceling the purchase of the shirt? i called their customer service one day to ask about a part, the rep that answered the phone told me without reservation that they were just order takers, data entry, nothing more. i had a good idea of that already; they list over 100 k items, not likely you're going to get people knowledgeable about even a small fraction of that number, not in todays world.for me, the worst outfit out there is welding depot.
Reply:Like everyone, I LOVE getting a great deal on anything and everything I buy. HOWEVER; I've been screwed around or waited way longer than expected too many times from buying online. Anymore, if possible, I'll do all the research I can on a product I intend to buy, and take knowledge of available pricing to a local dealer. Especially in the case of the Matheson dealer I go to, they are almost always able to get reasonably close on pricing, obviously I can avoid shipping, and they have my tax exemption on file. I deal with the same person every time I go there, so if there's a problem I can go straight to him for an answer. Thats how I prefer to do things; where i know someONE can be accountable.
Reply:If there had been a person that called me after I submitted my order (assuming shipping would be added and can not be calculated) and addressed these issues, that would have been fine, and I would have understood, but dont put a semi-calculated shipping charge on my invoice and allow me to check out, and then tell me that shipping will be different, BECAUSE you actually ordered it. A part of me really wants to use all 11 of my credit cards, and order separately all across the states, and then have them send me the same email, and before I contact them back, and Dispute all charges. It is federal law that an out of state vendor, or in state for that matter, cannot charge your credit card until the item is shipped.14' PowerMig 210 MP13'Burntables 5x10 CNC Table14' SAE300 HE on a 12' Ram 4500 60 CA 4x4.
