I am new to wire welding and dont know what wire to use. I have to cut off the 5 th wheel of a trailer and build a new one i will be using a miller wire feed ran off a sa-200 some of the welding will be on 1/2 plate and i will be using flux core. will 045 be big enough or do i need 1/16 and what kind of wire . thanks
Reply:I've always had very good luck with Hobart's Fabshield 21-B. I'd go with 1/16 wire. Attached ImagesDont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:1/8" and 5/32" 7018.
Reply:you can get away with .045 with multiple passes if necessary. thats a rather ambitious project for someone new to a process... can you stick weld?- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:yes i can stick and will do some with 7018 and 10018 but some will be wire. the guys at my welding shop said nr-211 mp 045 but that seams to small. i have ran a mig some but not a lot. i have it set up for 1/16 right now there is going to be a lot of welding because i have to cut about four feet of the frame off and replace it

Reply:that is a very good looking weld, what heat and wire speed were you running
Reply:CEP is right about the Fabshield 21B, 1/16" preferably for something like that.Ever since he told me about that wire I have never wanted to touch anything else.Sent from my GT-P3113 using TapatalkTOO MANY TOOLS & NO MORE SPACE
Reply:I ran those years ago so I have no idea. I ran both of them with a 1966 SA-200. I generally just turn dials until I get the results I want. You do realize if you run 1/16 self shielded wire you will need a flux core gun? .045 you might get away with using a regular Mig gun.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
