I just took delivery of my new Millermatic 211 today and can't wait to try it out tomorrow. Now I might just be being picky here, but once I unpacked it I was a tad disappointed with the included work clamp. It's kinda small and seems very cheap when compared to the larger work clamp that came with my HTP 221. Below are photos of each, is it just me or is the Miller clamp possibly not robust enough for many years of use? Would you replace it with something better? Thanks.Miller:HTP:
Reply:Your 211 is a light duty 200 amp unit. The supplied work clamp isn't going to melt down after the first use. If you don't abuse it, you should easily get a couple years out of it. Just clean the contact surfaces occasionally with a hand wire brush or fine emery cloth if needed.BTW, I used the same clamp on a couple Hobart units that I was testing for a little over a year. My Hobart Handler 210 MVP still has the lame jumper cable style clamp on it, that Miller and Hobart use to supply with the units, and it still in good condition and working fine after 3 years. Trust me, the clamp that came with you 211 is much better then the one that came with my 210 MVP.Last edited by Dan; 08-23-2014 at 01:30 AM.ESAB Migmaster 250 Hobart Ironman 230Multimatic 215TWECO Fabricator 181i & 211iHH125EZ - nice little fluxcore only unitMaxstar 150 STH - very nice

No doubt it will work ok, but I'm going to replace it with with a better one.Miller 211Miller T-bolt ac/dcVictor o/aMilwaukee ChopsawDewalt, Milwaukee minigrinderDelta drill pressDelta bench grinderair grinder, die grinderHF pipe benderHF horizontal bandsaw
Reply:That is a typical issue with the clamp. Replace it with a solid brass one and you'll save yourself some misery. http://www.usweldingsupply.com/lenco...d-mod-200.htmlThere are many styles to replace it with. There have been some posts on different styles.
Reply:Thanks. Found a very good deal on a 300A solid brass clamp, on its way.
