I have the harbor freight 4x6 bandsaw and as of literally 3 days ago I put on a new blade. It's a 18tpi 1/2" blade. This one to be exacthttp://www.ebay.com/itm/350520980385...#ht_540wt_1270I have probably made 10 cuts if that on it and while cutting a piece of 1.5" DOM tubing the blade stopped spinning. I took a closer look and this is what my blade looked likeWhat are the tips/tricks to setting the guides and angles of this thing?Torchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer

Reply:There really aren't many rule for using the saws.At least 3 teeth in contact with the metal that you are cutting, and have it well clamped.I have never had a blade break the way the one in the photo did .Yours looks like it was running on the rim of the drive wheel.
Reply:Never seen a break like that. Check the vise on your saw. Are its "ground" holding surfaces flat (and square)? Probably not. Mine weren't, it "rocked" when layed flat on a tabletop! So whatever I was trying to hold/saw wasn't secure. It's fixable though.XMT304 (school)SP125+ (home)HF 4x6 BandsawGood judgement comes from experience and much of that comes from bad judgement.

Reply:Three tooth rule is important. If you cut thin wall you have to suppport the weight or the teeth cut in too fast and you tear teeth. It looks like the tooth jammed on too thin a material and separated the hard area of the blade from the softer back area. More typically people tear out one or two teeth then another few teeth until they have several inches missing. You cannot walk away from a saw cutting thin wall. Even large saws with hydraulic feed controls can tear out teeth. Oh yes... Did I mention the 3 tooth rule??? Just kidding but Its the backbone of all effective and economic saw cutting. In large commercial operations a careful saw operator who looks after his cuts and his machine is prized. Put a man on there who doesn't give a **%%**and the operation goes down hill right away.
Reply:I may be looking at an illusion. If you look at the top of the photo,at the blade profile next to the vice grips,it looks like the blade was riding on the guide rim of the drive wheel.
