Allow myself to introduce..... myself.I fabricate stuff in my garage for fun, its just a hobby.  I've got a Miller 211 and love the thing.    The other day I scored a little lift truck.  The guy said its good for 500 pounds.   I paid $150 (canadian) for it.  Planned on cleaning it up and selling it.  Figured its worth more then $150.    Its actually quite handy.  I clamped a roller on it and its nice for cutting long pieces or when I'm drilling a long piece.  I can adjust the height of the roller with the pull of a lever! While I was at the guys shop I noticed he had a vertical saw, he was selling and I had wanted one for sometime!   I offered him $300 for it and he took it.Thing works awesome.   Going to find some time to clean it up paint it and keep it.   Everytime I have a project I have the steel shop cut the pieces I need.  Its always square and on size, but it costs per cut.Actually used the lift to unload the saw.  Good thing I had it.Here is my welder and table.  Don't mind the mess in the background Attached ImagesDerekMiller 211
Reply:Drill press looks nice.Is it on casters?!
Reply:Here is my latest project, a squat rack for a buddy and a few other projectsSome adjust jerk tables for my home gymand my squat rack for my home gym.  (yes, yes i know .. its light weight on the bar)DerekMiller 211
Reply:I've wanted one of those upright band saws for a long time.....      And what mess, should see my shop....Measure with a micrometre, mark with chalk,  cut with a torch.Never force anything...just get a bigger hammer.RoyOld Airco buzz box approx 1974Lincoln mig pack 15Lincoln 175 square wave1954 9" south bend lathe
Reply:Mike, yup its on some casters.  I actually threw some casters on the saw also.   I like having them on the wheels, cause it is my garage.   I don't park in there, but I do like to be able to move stuff to the side incase I need to pull one of the vehicles in and clean it, or fix it.DerekMiller 211
Reply:I bought a horizontal bandsaw for $100,  then I came across my new saw.  I've never seen a vertical one for under $1000.  Maybe I just haven't looked hard enough, I'm not sure.     But I think I got a good deal.  I prefer it over the horizontal.   I'd like to sell the horizontal one nowDerekMiller 211
Reply:Horizontal saws have their place as do verticals. It's a real PITA to cut 20'-24' long stock down to size on a vertical typically. Here horizontals excel. On the other hand it's hard to do intricate work with a horizontal, unless it will work as a vertical as well. Horizontals are good for cutting stock to length, but not for shaping like the verticals are.I like the little lift. There have been plenty of times I could have used one. I've been semi looking at a new fork lift for myself. Something with a few more "standard" features like brakes and  throttle, as well as the ability to go over 8' in height..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan

Reply:Welcome to the forum, Derek. I suspect that the little lift truck is going no where and will become a tool that you use on a regular basis. BTW, we love photos, the more you post, the better.Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkQualified & experienced at welding scrap metal

Reply:Yes it is. Is that a Rock Well drill press?
Reply:The Drill Press says "Canadian Blower & Forge" on the tag w the serial #.   Its pretty old, I remember it being in my dads garage when I was just a little kid and I'm 35 now.  It works great.  I drill a ton of holes.  I have made a couple squat stands for a few friends and myself, and you can see there are a ton of 5/8 holes.   I in order to ensure they are spaced perfectly and straight as an arrow, i had a template made.  Had 1/4" holes drilled every 1" on a cnc machine.   I used a 3" flatbar, and had holes put in at the 1" mark and 1.5" mark.   So, if the stands (or any pc I'm drilling) is a 2" or a 3" I can make sure they are perfectly centred.DerekMiller 211

Reply:Nice tools to have. Nice workspace too!So, you unloaded the saw with the lift. How did you unload the lift? GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.

Reply:Nice looking shop. Keep it up and you'll be out of room in no time.  I too like the little lift. For 150 bucks you didn't get hurt one bit as you've discovered.
