Reply:David,Nice looking and unique stand. It's definitely one-of-a-kind!One caveat I spotted right away. If you plan on hanging hammers on those rebars, you will find that your wooden hammer handles will quickly get chewed up by the rough surface. On my stand (wooden) I originally bent several loops from 1/4" x 1" bar stock. After attaching the loops, and dropping my hammers in the loops a few times, I noticed the handles were getting chewed up by the edges. I removed them and smoothed the edges, but they continued to gouge the handles. Rough rebar would be even worse! You could easily cut the rebar off at your side plates and replace the hangers with smooth rod.I replaced the bar loops on my stand with loops made from 3/8" round stock and the handles had no more damage.
Reply:Very nice! I really like the originality of it.

Reply:I like it, but I seem to be developing a new affinity for forging equipment.... as if I wasn't a big enough tool junkie before! If you need protection on the rebar you could try slitting a piece of plastic pipe length wise and wrapping it with electrical tape once you get it on. I've used rubber hose over steel handles like that and it's worked very well.250 amp Miller DialArc AC/DC StickF-225 amp Forney AC Stick230 amp Sears AC StickLincoln 180C MIGVictor Medalist 350 O/ACut 50 PlasmaLes

Reply:Originally Posted by 7A749I'll second that on hammer handles. I used square and round tubing for my holders and they can chew them up if you're not paying attention when you reach for them.Totally awesome and unique anvil stand! What kind of anvil??
