Custom Mailbox

I'm thinking that I already posted this when I started this project, but can't find a thread for it. So, I'll make a new one Parents closed on their first house back in February of this year. So as a housewarming present, I built them a mailbox Started this back in February, and just this past week finished it up. Between the never ending demands of the food processing industry, and a family It never got the attention it deserved. So anyways here it is.made from 304L Stainless. made from 12ga for the bottom, main shell and back. 1/4" plate re purposed from an old conveyor motor mount for the post mount. Flag pole is a 10" pc of 1/2" sanitary tube (0.65" wall) flag is 16 ga painted with rustoleum "Sunrise Red" The handle is an old drawer pull my wife bought years ago that turned out to be 304L stainless as well  Lid is held closed by a rather strong little magnet. There is a piece of 20ga CRS silicon bronzed onto the inside of the door to allow the magnet to hold fast. It didn't polish out the way I would have liked, but for a hand polish I'm not complaining too much. Mom came down to Arkansas from Pennsylvania this past week so I had to have it finished for her to take back. If time wasn't an issue, I would have polished it to a better shine.

Reply:That's rad. Since my mailbox looks atrocious, I've been thinking of making a reasonably elaborate one just to practice my CAD skillz. Reply:Thanks man! The top is 12ga and yes, it was rolled. I actually did a quick model in Inventor when I was making it. I still have the file if you'd like it.
