We run a campground and I need to cut 55 gal drums in thirds, throwing out the center.  The 2 remaining ends are burn barrels.  Currently I roll a ring and tack it to the edge to make the edge safer.  I would prefer to roll a hem or wire bead edge on it if dies exist for such an application.  I have seen roller die sets that come close with a 3 or 4 step process, but would prefer something simpler.  The edge can be a hem, bead, or wire bead edge. I make enough of them I can invest in a machine, I probably make 75 or so each year now. I believe 55 gallon drums are 18 Ga, some are 16.Thanks, Bart
Reply:Just cut the barrel along the rib leaving the rib on the part you want. Get a BFH for backup and use a smaller hammer to fold the rib over to the inside, working around the circumference 2 or 3 times. I've done this many times to a 1/4 drum to make a drain/ parts washing pan. No welding needed and you end up w/ a safe, smooth edge.                                                                        MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
