My wife bought me this TIG welder for my birthday without my knowledge. I am always using my Harbor Freight MIG welder for all my projects and she over heard me buddies and I always talking about how nice a TIG would be. The bad part of the whole deal is I have no clue at all on how to use this thing. Heck I have never even seen one in actual use. Since i am a novice self educated welder. I am looking for any advice, reading material suggestions or web links that will help me with this new toy.

Reply:Thanks for the replies. I found them very useful. My biggest problem was with the set-up on the machine. The manual was very vague with this. And with the TIG Mate-17 starter pack the instructions were basically a parts list. I couldn't figure out how far the tungtin should be pulled out.I also just ordered the Ron Covell TIG welding basics. My uncle William Galvery wrote a book on welding but didn't get into set up much. I just may try to convince him to teach me.Thanks guys. |
