Around a 50 gallon propane tank for the cooking chamber. 1/4" plate for the fire box. Got the box all tacked and welded up. Those 90' magnets work great for stuff like this when working alone. I just can't find where I put it now- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Am thinking about doing something similar but I've never seen horizontal propane tanks that small. Around here, 100 gal and smaller are all vertical.Jerry30+ yrs Army Infantry & Field Artillery, 25 yrs agoMiller 350LX Tig Runner TA 210, spool gunLincoln 250/250 IdealArcESAB PCM 500i PlasmaKazoo 30" vert BSKazoo 9x16 horiz BSClausing 12x24 lathe20T Air Press

Reply:Thanks. Perhaps rv service places might have them as old ones are swapped out. Originally Posted by gxbxcHorizontal tanks are used on trucks buses an rv's. A lot of propane service & delivery trucks use them
Reply:Not sure on original use but it had a few fittings as well as a gauge??? And incase you were wondering. I somehow managed to leave my magnet inside the smoke box as it was welded up.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com

Reply:Yes, that is me. I have not been on grace for a long time. It sure is a small world. I thought your name looked familiar also.
Reply:Are you still wheeling? I sold my Toyota and got a 76 fj40 project that Im working on.
Reply:Not really. I still have my jeep. You can see it in the pic- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:This one will be attached to a nice base with some wheels... Its going to be heavy. Dad and I had a hard time picking the tank up and setting it in the back of my z71. It did still have propane in it though... Once the firebox is attached and all the grates, It will be a beast. I have a 250gal. oval tank I am planning on setting on a trailer and making a gas cooker with... It will be an updated version of the one I made it High school. Not a good picture, but it had a stainless serving table with storage underneath, and a spot for a generator under the table in the front. It was charcoal - Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Have you made any progress on this smoker build? Has it been put on "Hold" for some reason or what? Haven't seen or heard about it in a long while, so I thought I would try to find out.
Reply:Refer to the "more flatbed" thread. I have needed to get the truck on the road so this got put on hold.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com |
